Judges Commentary:
It was a very intense day of Airsoft. The Elite Squads performed at a very high level and were joined at the top by some old friends (Thanks STS!) and some new faces (Great Job, Expendables!).
Here are my personal "Judges" Team Highlights. Other Judges can feel free to add your own, too!
Team Miller Beastin' during bloodbath: I saw 2 instances of Maverick bum-rushing flags and taking big hits from the opposing team for doing it. Todd also did the same. This team definitely understood the concept of Bloodbath (ATTACK THE FLAG!) and did a great job. They could have done better had they started using Todd and Miller more for attacking earlier.
Expendables Super Aggressiveness: This team relentlessly attacked throughout all of their games and it showed! They ended up with the number one seed going into the Championship round. They also ended up with the highest cumulative judges score for a single game! Toeknee and Brad were working well with Killfast and Ninja even though they have not played much together.
STS' Team Movement: By far, the most disciplined Team Movement took place from STS today. They dominated this category in almost every game. Judges were amazed at the cohesiveness of their unit and they always knew where each other were at! Their strategy scores were a little weak, however and they ended up a 6-seed.
Team Herrin's well-rounded performance: This team performed well in all categories. For an aggressive team, they consistently scored very high in sportsmanship, which is an extra kudos! Their scores weren't perfect but they were in every game til the end and made their presence felt!
Cry Havoc's domination of the championship round: This team has a member at almost every game. As a result they scored a 2-seed in the preliminary round (Bloodbath) on the backs of an aggressive, rush-based playstyle. Carvin was ever the fearless leader, charging like a mad bull on many occasions. Then, in the Championship round, Cry Havoc stepped it up another notch. When their competition was starting to look a little tired, Cry Havoc was perhaps more intense than in earlier rounds! They also played the toughest schedule, beating the 1-seed and 4-seed in consecutive rounds to advance to the finals. The Final game was a classic for the ages. The tide turned when Chavo made a mad-charge and took out an STS from the Apartment area. This seemed to rattle STS a bit and their resolve seemed to fall apart after that. Chavo was eliminated but he cleared the way for his team to flank up the "dark alley" side and eventually win the game! It was fun to watch!
Sportsmanship as a whole improved: In the last game we played that was scored under the AofK system, sportsmanship scores were considerably lower on average. This game, there were exactly (7) questionable incedents. And all were solved almost immediately without arguement. Judges sportsmanship scores showed a huge, huge jump in AofK Brotherly love! Great Job to everyone.
After today, I am even prouder to be a part of AofK!
