Cold weather is something not a whole lot of airsofter due. However with that said there are several things you should be looking out for while on the airsoft battle field during the cold months of the year.
1. Make sure you dress in layers. As you play throughout the day you will be sweating and it is nice to be able to take a layer off if you can.
2. Wear wool socks. In doing this wool socks will pull the moisture away from your feet and help keep your feet warm and dry.
3. Stay hydrated. In the colder months you body works hard y shivering to help keep you warm. In doing this you are losing water in your system. You might not notice sweating, but you need to replace the water you are losing.
4. Make sure you have good boots on for play in cold weather. You dont want to wear steel toe boots out in cold weather as the steel will get quite cold and if your feet are cold and numb your not going to have the best of times out on the field.
5. Bring a change of socks. If you have a break it is not a bad idea to change your socks to a fresh pair. In doing this you are keeping your feet dry and warm.
6. Bring an extra set of cloths. Be sure to bring like a pair of sweat pants and sweat shirt for your drive home from the game as this will help keep you warm and get you out of wet clothes for your drive home.
I will be updating this as time goes. Besure to ask any questions you might have as I will be sure to answer them ASAP.

I notice you do not have any suggestions for keeping guns dry and how to keep them working in the cold/snow.

Because this forum is about health, not the equipment, Doc.

You made some good points, Sev!
I, personally, always keep some hand warmers on me at all times. You never know when you or a fellow airsofter will need them.

If you are actually going outside in the snow, I like to put my feet in grocery bags before putting them into my boots. That way any moisture that soaks through your boots wont touch your socks/feet.

Wouldn't wrapping your feet in bags just cause them to sweat and then get cold?
That's why I wear thinner wool socks. In the thick ones my feet sweat and start to get cold.

I cant stress this enough. good boots warm socks and extra socks is a must. I had to suffer in the field because I forgot my winterboots and never again will that happen.
If you sweat in winter it can lead to hypothermia becasue the sweat is evaporating casuing to to cool down. Take it from me and im sure sev can agree being cold sucks.

Those are all great points, Sev. I guess I want to know your opinion on the grocery bags from a medical standpoint.
Would they make you sweat more and lose more water? And would the trade-off of dryer feet be worth the lost moisture?
P.S. Your callsign makes me want to play Killzone.

Yes, while putting them in will keep your feet from getting wet from outside such as water, rain and such, they cause your feet to sweat more in tunrs which makes them counter productive. So while your feet are now sweating in side the plastic bags and no ventilation your feet will get cold.
I dont see where the possitive is realy for this. As if needed you can carry an extra pair of dry socks with you in a ziplock back to keep them dry and change them if you need to.

Sorry, I just looked at the title and skimmed the section, I did not know it was only about health.

Now that we are in the colder months here in Michigan I feel it is time to bump this back up to the top.
Also remember that plastic bags will not allow your feet to breath which means now your feet are sweating and getting wet which means they will get cold and in turn you will be cold.
