Let me introduce you to the Sault Sainte Marie airsoft group that I play with: Superior Task Force Unit - A small group of current and past LSSU students and friends. They have had the Police, Border Patrol, and Coast Guard point REAL guns at them because of misunderstandings. Just because of that, I give them a little more respect. They are very nice and friendly. They are still a small group and all we have is a facebook group page, but I hope to get some forums up and running sooner or later. www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=11528416395Now Like us on facebook! www.facebook.com/pages/Superior-Task-Force-Unit-Airsoft-Team/212528658763706?sk=wallAnd here it is! stfuairsoft.webs.comSo, if any of you are in the UP, look the S.T.F.U. up and come play!

I just want to add this, just because they have had PD, BP and USCG point real firearms at them does not grant them respect. I see this as they where not playing in the right areas or where in plain site of others outside of those playing, and had the PD called on them.
Not saying they are not nice people, but even the nicest person can make stupid mistakes.

Its not really "respect" per say, I just didnt know a good word for what I wanted to say. I guess you could say "props" for handling the situation well. We play in an area that is sort of within the city, but not. Its the woods near the boat launch by the bay, but its a public area, so there are people who walk around in there. Its not that I'm saying they are awesome for that, but its all we have to play in up here. So, its what we use.

Not a good thing to do in any sort of the word. It is best to play on private land. If you are playing on public land as you have stated, that is a big no no... Im just looking out for fellow airsofters on this one man. I odnt want to hear or see people arrested due to this.

I understand. The guys I play with talk to the local authorities after the incidents, and they now understand that we play there. I do understand where you are coming from. Thank you. I used to always play on private land, but there isn't any up here that people would let us, so, I guess they make due.

We have full transport items: totes, bags, and cases. Lets stay on topic. This is about the Team, not your experiences in the woods.

OK.... I am part of STFU and want to shed some light on the situation that was discussed above.
The creators of the group a year or 2 before I went to LSSU have played at this location for a couple of years and yes it is in a "park" But Sault Sainte Marie is a very sparsely populated area and this is a rather closed off area with trees all around. I personally have only had maybe 1 or 2 people see or notice us while we are playing. Each time we are going to play a call is made to central dispatch informing them we are going to be playing (this was every weekend 2 and 3 years ago so they knew us and where we played always). We have talked to them about the place they want us to part and everything so it has/had been all worked out. We have had many diffrent peace officers come by and ask/see what we are doing. we all abide by REAL gun laws and a few times we had officers give us there number and want to come play on a weekend they didn't work. The weekend we had a "incident" was when we were in the parking area we always were and had called central but for some reason a coast guard boat saw people in camouflage and had weapons and thought the worst. So a border patrol officer came driving in and told us to drop the weapons (they knew the actual situation) so we complied and the situation was fine. the officer then told us that a coast guard boat was being dispatched or was there to possibly handle the situation.
Ok long and slightly aggravated rant aside...... This is a good group of guys that are very helpful and was a very active group up until last year when we last a decent amount of our members who graduated. We had a few games / semi-milsims that had 30+ members and that was a good turn-out for "The Soo"
Great group of guys for sure and proud to say I knew and have played with the leaders (I'm a leader also)
People that went to Area 51 in 2010 during the summer who met Kris (wood M14, CYMA glock18c, and impact grenade) He is the Leader of this group and currently in Marquette MI.

I just wanted to add somethig real quick.
The 131 trains on state land and we have never had an issue. There are no laws that prohibit weapons on state land. State land is available for hunting and other things. We however contacted the township it was in, and since I work for the sheriffs dept, I also let our north units know when we will be there. There isn't a ton of private land in kent county, so we like the 50 acres we found. Sorry to get off the topic.

No, Six thats actually a good point and Shreve, It sounds like the "coast gaurd " may have over re-acted its not like you guys were sitting in the weeds shooting incent by standers as they walked by And im sure you guys are a great group of men, Oh, and Sev, i have 50 acre's straight back and all the way to the left is About 150 acre's of city property and even no if we were to play on the city property it wouldnt be that big of a deal but they could be a dick and arrest us if they wanted so thats why i stay on my property so Sev, you make a good point to.
I think what we all mean Colt, is just be careful and be safe. I think that S.T.F.U. will be very powerful and helpful on the front line's of milsim's.
