This event was a bitch. It was terrible. Probably sets the bar in my experience for "Worst Airsoft Game." Which in of itself isn't all bad. Means one can simply reflect on any future game saying saying "At least it's not as bad as FF2!"
My problems really come down to 2 types. The ones that could be controlled and the ones that couldn't.
Weather, tent getting flooded, gear getting waterlogged, mags getting waterlogged, being pissed off all night. All that was beyond control, and really thanks you to the people who tried to help me cheer up. I'm sorry for being such a bitch. I won't get into all that.
The things within control were much more numerous and yet just about as infuriating.
"IDDQD" Civilians - There were a lot of Civilians. The no hit calling was a major major major issue with, along with Spawn camping, Dead-manning, blind firing, and lighting up people who'd already been hit/called themselves out. The fact that many of them didn't "bleed out" and simply walked back to spawn made it very hard for Black to complete a necessary objective. The feeling was most were noobs with no desire to understand the rules of the game, or truely did not understand anything that was going on. Whatever the case, I'm with Sev and the 131: Not attending any event with Team MIR. They represented themselves very poorly. And even if it wasn't all of them doing it, still, as an organized team, it is your responsibility to steer the ignorant to safety and integrity or tell them to get the hell of the field if they don't want to listen (or at the very least, get a ref to do it ). And to that end, mailman, if you were doing what you attest to, all the more respect to you for doing the right thing.
Lack of clear objectives Objectives did seem to be a bit spastic throughout the first day. It made a team that was already having difficulties from being nothing more than a squad have further handicap. But I have to say it definitely kept us on our toes and on the move. It honestly surprised me at how much we got done.
You can't team up with them! Despite green and Black had almost similar overall objectives, being told as a Squad of 8.. 7 after an hour in, I thought it was pretty bogue being told we had to fend completely for ourselves. Again, see above, I'm suprised we were able to get as much done as we did! XD
No Crazy Cromags! I was really looking forward to seeing this guy and buying some new gear. A shame he wasn't there. Not so much of an infuriation, just a small point of letdown.
And now for the Awesome
Sev, Six and the 131 - I can't praise you guys enough! You guys were a well oiled machine! It will was an honor runnign with you guys and it will be an honor to run with you guys again someday! Frikkin Epic Commandering, Sev!
Spaz and Wingman You guys were awesome to run with. Real High-speed duo really kept things real. Wingman, we did some frikkin awesome medicking!
Gunny/Toni I don't think I saw you but a few times out in the field, but from what I could hear over the radio you and Dr. Black were frikkin wasps, out there Flaking Crap the Flak up!
Spec How can I forget the ref that had our back? You did an excellent job with what little you had to work with. You were the MacGuyver Ref.
Kazz The Man of the Event in my opinion. You gave Day 2 your best and I have to commend you on that. You made the 2nd day exceedingly more dynamic and fun that the first. Give this Man the frikkin Congressional Medal of Honor!

Well, I thank you all for being so merciful. It really was the worst game ever. I must agree with my good friend Snake Eyes. Just as Fueling the Fire gave us perspective on the nearly "Perfect" game, Fed Federales showed us what happens when nearly everything possible goes wrong.
What can you do except move on?
Negatives. 1. I have to apologize to Black. I caught Spec being very confused in handing out the missions. And creating big time confustion. He tried, but he's new and it was his first rodeo.
2. The weather hurt us. It was the first time I had to deal with my entire schedule being wiped out by rain. Not easy to do.
3. Wife came down to pick up the kids and hit a huge chunk of concrete, blew a tire and was stranded in Indiana with 5 kids on Sunday Morning. Wingman, that's WTF.
4. Returning on Sunday, reffing for a bit, and then having Kazz radio me saying he must end the game due to fistfights nearly breaking out.
Because I love this sport, many of these things break my heart even now as I type. But there were some really great things that happened as well.
Positives: 1. During the rains, I saw some great camradrie between the players.
2. The night game was beyond words for me. It was all I could do to not grab a rental gun and get in on the action. I wish both days could have been "The Night Game.." Its a shame the awesomeness of this was overshadowed by some of the negatives.
3. The look on certain player's faces (U know who you are) when they cleaned house at the raffle. That was really priceless.
I won't speak to specific players who caused major issues on the field. But you also know who you are. We had many flagrant rule-breakers. Honestly, there were not many Kzoo Regulars at the event. It was a lot of people who were first timers who were causing issues.
In closing, I would like to say..
The only real evil in making a mistake is not learning from it, and then repeating it.

First of all let me say, Don't let FF2 sour you taste for a 2 day Milsim event. Not all Milsim Event are created equal. I Come from an Event Management back Ground. It is what I work with everyday. I have now, been to the best organized event, Breedland and the worst Organized event. FF2. A 2 day Milim events can be Epic If done properly. Sev has mentioned some of them in his post so I won't repeat it. There has been a lot of damage done to the A of K reputation and will take some tme to rebuild that, But it must be done. Everything A of K does from here on out MUST be done to perfection and Top Shelf. No short cuts, No half ass planning. It i to bad the game had to take break Sunday because of all the crap going on. It takes a whole lot to get me angry, Just ask my team mtes. But I got angry Sunday afternoon when the Civies where shooting into our respawn area even after we told them it was our respawn and they shot the REF. I dang near came out the window, But I used my Big Boy Voice which I am sure you all heard. Bad form on the Admin for breaking the alliance of the Green and Black team on Saturday. Once the Game is Started, The game is on and it takes on a life of its own. It has its own ebb and flow directed bu objectives. Let it play out. If the Black team gets a better deal from the other team and turns on green so be it, let it play out. Bad Form. MIR - It was fun listening to them and watching them in the camp site. Accordian Music, Russia singing and Dancing fun stuff getting drunk sucking down Vodka. Now if they would have handled themselves on the field like that it would have been great. But we all know how that turned out. BAD FORM MIR! Kazz - I was really bummed when I heard you would not be running with the 131 for this event, But you personally kept this event from spinning down into a complete craphole. You were where you needed to be for this event. Conside this your virtual kick in the Butt for sleeping on a picnic table instead of our tent!!!!!!! So many people to thank for how they did play and hold themselves. You know who you are. Plus I don't remember names well. I am an old man Highlites for me. #1 The Trixter hail Dance. OW ow, It hurts, it hurts, Let me in, let me in! That is one Dance I have no interest in learning, But thank you for fixng the tent in the hail. #2 The run with Six Friday night, Great bonding time. Had to make up for all the Farts, Which leads me into #3 Fart time with TFOB, I had unrelenting gas Friday and Saturday during the storm, Actually made SIX gag once. BAD FORM On Me. But it was funny, even Funnier when SEV added one right after mine and we gave Six a Sh!t sandwhich #4 Advenure in Walmart Checking out the Walmart Hotties. Yeah, I think wecould find Trixter or Sn3aks a date there. #5 At the start of the game on Saturday the 131 +2 we are in file formation heading out, we get to the open alley, Lt Six calls me up to the front, points out a guy in a bunker, says "take him out" Get him in my sites. Job done, we move in to take up the position. #6 in Armory picking targets in the Castle, There is someone on the second floor at the north end shooting, I shoot at him he does a slight turn an I nail him right in the goggle lens with a SMACK! I turn and looked at SEV, did you hear that? he said sure did, Nice shot! That is all I have for now. TFOB Out!

Spaz, you are awesome the whole way around! i just hope you dont run in too many circles from that pcp! lol
Shadsquatch, you put up with a lot with me last weekend, but i can say this you are the best big brother EVER!!!!!!!!!

Tfob, your not "that old. I had a blast hanging with you at the armory watching each others backs. I think I could smell you guys from my truck 20 meters away. I bet it was ripe in that tent. I was sitting in the back of my truck when the hail came. I had a front row seat to the Trixter Hail dance. That was hilarious!!!
Munster, I too have organized large and small events in the past. Sometimes everything just turns against you. The weather was unrelentless. You had some planning glitches along with I think too few reffs. A stranded wife with 5 kids in the car..... I would rather drink poison. Now we know how not to have an event turn out. As you said " learn from your mistakes".
People will be leery at the next one. keep that in mind. Airsoft of Kalamazoo has a great reputation from past events. I know you guys can bring that rep back.
Besides I was just happy that I won that refill canister in the raffle. it doesn't take much to please this old guy.
See you soon.............in my sights

Howdy all, IronAngel of the Roadcrew here.
We were bummed as hell that the roadcrew couldn't make FF2; everything just went wrong leading up to this event for us (for those who may not know, we were the civies at fueling and hostile, but not at FF2 as was planned). Apparently, we caught some kind of mummy curse or something!
As it was, had I come down, I would have had to turn around friday night and head back due to circumstances beyond my control. Bishop was forced to work the entire weekend (12 hour days too) and for those who may not know, Mikie the Sheik from fueling had a gall bladder attack and had to spend a bit of time in the hospital, but it recovering well. He wouldn't have been able to make it down either, and we know you guys love the Sheik!
I am sad to hear things didn't go well and the weather sucked, I will talk to Tino and Munster and see what our guys can do to help in the future to make things run smoother. Any extra hands out there, consider throwing in at any AoK event, or any other event you happen to attend for that matter. Be a ref for half the day, haul stuff and all that. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, I recognize a number of the names on these posts and know you guys help out. I just figured I should say it while I was thinking it.
In closing, still sucks I missed this one... We had some really horrible ideas we will roll forward to the next event. I won't say what... just watch out for huggie civies.

TO ALL THAT ATTENDED FF2:
After reading the AAR on this event, i have to say this, I'm sorry to hear all the negatives and how things went. I, myself, wasn't able to attend due to major financial issues and had I did not have this misfortune, the weather i saw coming for the area would have thrown a curve in me attending anyways. Not that rain or any other weather conditions would deter me from an event, but, water-logged and torrential down-pours does not set well for a 2-day event(something you have to deal with i guess).
I have to say that ALL of you did well despite the issues at hand, as TFOB said in his post, don't let this event spoil your "zest" for Airsoft. We've all been thru "bad" and "good" events, just roll with the next one and learn from past mistakes. As i said earlier, sorry i missed this one too. Hopefully the next event i can make an appearance to now that my AEG's are up running 110% now.
Hope to sling some plastic with you guys soon,
Arch

I take offense to some of the comments you guys left. I dont cheat and you guys accuse me of cheating. How about Six saying only tino and one other civivlian played with honor. That sounds like he spent more time in the dead zone than on the field. What about cowboy saying we dont belong on the airsoft field. Last time I checked we went on break on saturday because the green team was tired and wanted to take a rest. What about the green team threatening the other team with violence and getting sundays game stopped early. And Gigas saying we had poor sportsmenship from everyone means he didnt actually get into the battles he must have been scared and hung out by the respawn point. Wow I have never played with a group from Michigan before and I have to say you guys are a bunch of babies. Your not man enough to say anything to anyone at the game but your balls grow ten times when you write on a forum a day later. You act like you guys were perfect and lets face it you werent anywhere near the angels you are telling everyone. Lets go over the list. 1. You talk of how bad the civies were about calling them selves out and bleeding out when I saw just as much from you guys. How many times to I have to shoot the black team in the back when they entered the octagon before they call themselves out. How many richochet shots must I shoot before you call your selves out in the castle. 2 How many of you didnt have dead rags or held you hand up when dead. 3 And if you pick the back of the octagon as your respawn point I am going to light you up all day so you dont make the three foot walk to get into our objective. Plus your respawn when we attacked the castle was 75 yards from it. so what we are not allowed to flank the castle and cut off the enemy supply lines like the do in real battle. Were suppose to let you just walk right in. I am not talking about lighting some one up just a few feet after they exit becuause thats not right but the rules didnt say anything about that either. 4. You milsim people are all the same. You want the bad guys to stand still and let you use your lets face it subpar tactics on the battle field to attack. No one who ever served in the military would ever whine as much as you guys on how people shot you up. If someone is "spawn camping" the building with three different exits you exit a different door and take him out. Oh wait you have subpar tactics so maybe my team should show you hows its done. Plus what kind of milsim people are you when you refuse to play in the rain. If your going to act like the miliatary then dont dishonor them by acting like a baby. Be a man!! Well I hope you guys like it when your called out. Wait isnt your mommy calling you for dinner you should probably go. Love the hitman

Hitman I'm going to keep this simple as I'm not looking to get into a pissing match with anyone. As a former US Navy (FMF)Hospital Corpsman, I would have called training for the following:
1. There was sever weather moving in on us throughout the afternoon on Saturday. When you hear thunder, lighting is not far behind. That is a major health hazzard for all on the field.
2. Hail, I dont know about you but I dont like being pelleted by quarter sized hail. Ok, I could have played out in it, but to me I have done my time in the rain and to this day I still enjoy a nice game in the rain. If it aint rain'in, we aint train'in
3. As for people needing breaks on Saturday, I heard acrossed the ref radio chan that there was more then just green asking for a break during play. I'm sorry but I dont want to have to deal with a heat injury out there on that field, as to my knowledge there are only two Field Medics out there, one being myself, and the other Kazz.
As you can see these are very valid points on all fronts. I for one as well as others do not want to see people get hurt during a event. Hope we get another chance to play together or against one another.
