I am eventually going to get an Echo 1 M28 and I was thinking of just putting in an ASGI piston and spring guide.
One question I have is are AirSoft GI parts any good, and second are there any other parts that the M28 could really benefit from?

The m28 is a unique rifle. It was based off of the vsr design, but they made the cylinder longer by about a quarter inch. This means that not all vsr upgrades will work.
ECHO m28 parts that are NOT compatible: - Cylinder - Piston - Hop up chamber
Everything else is vsr spec and is a pretty good fit.
If you are interested, I am trying to sell an ECHO m28 that I installed a few upgrades into. There is a sale thread with more info and pictures if you are interested.

Be careful though, the gun is notorious for slam firing, so a new trigger box or sears is a must.

oh yeah I forgot too say I was gonna put a new trigger box in the gun basically when I get it.
By the way Mav, didn't your post on the M28 yo have for sale say it didn't work at the moment?

Yea, at the moment it doesn't. Just needs a little work that I haven't had any time for.
Plus it includes 2 mags, upgraded piston, trigger sear, and bucking.
