As a Metal Gear Solid devout religious follower, I felt I should talk about this. About 2 years ago, Metal Gear Solid Rising was announced by Konami at E3, causing 360 fanboys to jizz in their pants when they heard it was planned to be multi-platform. However, this game worries me because you play as Raiden, the most annoying thing ever put onto a screen (ever play MGS2?). It is also no longer a true stealth game, but an action-focused Ninja Gaiden-like hack 'n slash fest, denoted by it's tag-line, which replaced "tactical espionage action," the heart of the series, with "lightning bolt action." Gameplay videos showing eery similarities to God of War have confirmed these fears. Series creator Hideo Kojima doesn't have anything to do with Rising either, so it is simply Konami trying to milk every last dollar out of this series which may I remind you, had it's storyline completed already, after Kojima sealed the gap with Peace Walker. Is anyone else as concerned as I am with Konami's decision to go through with this, possibly having the potential to spoil the good track record of Metal Gear in the pursuit of 360 fanboys' cash, or do you think it will turn out not to be a disaster equivalent to the Exxon Valdez?

I'm actually really looking forward to Rising. Raiden is actually a character I like, so playing as him in this new one is going to be a lot of fun. And sure, the new tagline is "Lightning Bolt Action," but it will still have a pretty large emphasis on stealth and not killing human enemies, like the other MGS titles. I can just picture running through hallways all ninja-like and quiet, maybe crossing rooftops in town levels, and then, when I do have to fight, the combat looks really detailed and I can tell that the devs put a lot of work into polishing it. I understand your views as a true MGS fan, but we can't judge the game until it's released I'd just look forward to it because its a new MGS title and may very well being a really fun new direction for the series. P.S. Yes, I own a 360, and the fact that this is cross-platform DOES make me nerd all over the place, that doesn't affect what I said above, as I've played multiple MGS installments, so I know how the series has been throughout the older titles.

This game does't look half bad to me. The only other MGS game I have played though is Peace Walker though. I thought that was a pretty good game, although I couldn't tell ya how it compares to the older titles. Going off of that though, I can see what you mean by it not being quite the same. I'm sure there will be quite a few similarities to satisfy those who enjoy the original styles.

I have no idea about this series, but the new one looks fun. I'd like to play the older ones, too.

It may be a good step for them, considering what the popular games are today. Plus just think of it as revenge to the PS3 taking Mass Effect 2, and soon to be Mass Effect 3 . Anyway, it looks like fun, and I may pick it up when it is released.

After watching the new trailer, I can say that I'm DEFINITELY buying it. I don't usually like super action games like that (besides Devil May Cry), but something about watching Raiden throw Metal Gear Ray into the air like that just made me smile. Overall, for the heavy-duty MGS fans out here upset by this, just remember these things 1) It's not a Metal Gear Solid game, but just set in the same universe 2) It's intended to be a spinoff title and a step into uncharted territory for the series. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. It doesn't mean the series is going to die or anything. In fact, this spinoff title may make even more gamers want to try out the rest of the games, making it even more popular 3) There's always Metal Gear Solid 5 in the future (Kinda goes along with point 2, but ah, oh well.)

Sorry for the double post, but I thought I'd include the new trailer for those who haven't seen it yet: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g-jmFRsZh4It's name was change from Metal Gear Solid: Rising to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance also.

Yeah, I really don't get it. Vengerence means taking revenge on something, so I guess He takes revenge on somebody, doesn't particularly care for the way he did it, so he brings them back to life and takes revenge on them again. LOL
EDIT: Vengeance, typo!

Japanese studios are well-known to put cheesy titles/subtitles like that onto their games though, so it shouldn't be such a surprise to see something like this.

Yeah, it's because they're translated. Some things just don't come through right due to grammar differences. Read the DBoy Mk16/17 manual section "The Story of SCAR" to see what I'm talking about.
