I know that it is illegal to sell airsoft guns in Michigan without the orange tip, however it is not illegal to own an airsoft gun without the orange tip. However, this is not why I'm posting this thread. The reason I am posting this thread is that I recently purchased a chrome slide for sidearm. I was successful in removing the orange tip. However, I wasn't in removing the white paint that is on the replica underneath the orange is not being quite as cooperative. Any suggestions are helpful!!!

Is it a metal slide or a plastic?...if its metal, you could try this. Next time your girl goes to the hobby store(I know just as well as you that your going to be stuck there for a few hours looking at scrapbook crap) go to the model car section and grab some paint thinner. Just a couple little bottles will work and stick just the tip in it, wait a few minutes then wipe it down with steel wool. While your at the hobby store grab some flat black paint or what ever color you think would be best, maybe silver to kinda be close to the chrome. A paintbrush to cover up the exposed metal so it wont rust and your good.
Or skip the thinner and just paint it silver...lol
Not sure what you can do with a plastic other then paint over the white with your desired color cuz thinner might soften the plastic...and that wouldn't be good...

For all my guns I have used Rust-Oleum Camouflage paints (Can be found at Walmart or anywhere else). Spray 1 or 2 layers of area after either removing all pieces or taping over any cracks or areas that don't/can't be painted. Let dry 5-20 min. After this I use a Krylon Matte Finish to make sure my hard work wont rub off. Then let dry and enjoy your pretty new gun enjoy This is what it can look like; Paint has been on for a year and only part showing wear is the hand grip.

The slide is chrome and I'm trying to keep it that way. As far as the steel wool goes I won't be able to do that due to the fact that it scratches the chrome (I have already tried this ). I will throw some pictures up later tonight so you guys can see exactly what I'm yalking about! Thanks for the help!

Why and how did you buy a chrome slide with an orange tip on it?

I bought the chrome slide for my replica because I broke the black one. As far as the orange tip goes, if I would have known that it was coming with the orange, I would have never purchased it. Now tell me how to get it off! ;D

If I remember right, Tino looked high and low for a replacement slide and they were pretty hard to find. I think his GBB is an HFC Darkhawk.

Personally, I would just treat it like it is a black slide for now. Sand it down, use metal polish and the techniques that people use to turn a black slide into a chrome slide. No matter what you do you will not match the chrome finish on there already, so it will look funny. Doing the whole slide will give an even finish.
I am not sure of the exact procedure and techniques that people use as I have never been interested in doing one, but I have seen the results and they look like they were bought that way. The information is really easy to find as well.

Maverick makes a good point.... You will either have to redo the paint on the entire gun or you could shade it into the other color so it doesn't look far off from the original

Just mask off the chrome and paint it black to match the pistol body and call it good.

I would say paint the whole thing over.... either chrome or black.

Na, not the whole thing, I see why he bought it, cuz it looks sweet. If it was me I would just paint the white part a semi gloss or flat black so it matches the handle, then see how it looks. if you dont like it then paint the whole thing chrome.
Or get creative and put a pair of "racing stripes" on it...lol
canary yellow would go great with the chrome ;D

I would have to say no to the racing stripes. However, I wouldn't be against the idea of some KZOO Crew decals!
